Welcome to Charters Towers State High School, a rural community school with close to 100 years of rich educational history. Set in the heart of the historic gold-mining town, the High School proudly serves the mining and farming community with a blend of innovative curriculum, exceptional facilities, immaculate grounds and heritage listed buildings.


Charters Towers State High School is having a birthday!  We turn 100 on 5th February 2012.  We were the first state high school established in Queensland!  Celebrations are being planned for the Queen''s Birthday weekend on 8th, 9th and 10th June, 2012.  All past students, staff and parents are invited to join in the centenary festivities. Charters Towers State High School is committed to providing flexible pathways for all students with curriculum combinations tailored for individual needs.

Our Middle School proudly boasts excellent learning opportunities within seven Key Learning Areas (KLAs), thereby providing students with a seamless transition into their senior studies.  

Our Senior School spans Years 10-12 and allows for acceleration of senior subjects, enrolment in the work-force, apprenticeships, certificates or university subjects to be completed before the end of Year 12.
